When bookmaker Alfonso Beretta steals a large sum of money from the mafia, he travels from the United States to Sicily in search of a daughter whom he has never met. Terminally ill, Baretta hopes the money can bring comfort to his only family and help him find peace in his final days. On the final leg of his voyage, however, Baretta is intercepted by hitman Tony Torre (Luca Lionello, Passion of the Christ). Tony hesitates after a brief confession from Baretta, but ultimately completes his mission. Moved by his victim's intentions and haunted by his violent past, Tony embarks on a mission of revenge and redemption. He keeps the stolen money, takes Beretta's identity, and travels to a small Sicilian town in search of the daughter. There he encounters Lucia, a local prostitute. It is a relationship Tony never thought he would get to experience before the end of his violent life, while Lucia sees "Beretta" as an opportunity to escape her life. However, the mafia still wants its money back and will stop at nothing to eliminate the man who betrayed them.
